In addition to judicial experience, Judge St. John has broad and deep legal experience and has handled cases in civil, criminal, family and juvenile law.  She came to the bench from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, where, as an Assistant Attorney General, she represented the people of Wisconsin on more than 200 criminal appeals cases.

She has represented child victims of abuse and neglect as an attorney at the non-profit Children’s Law Center.  She has done extensive pro bono work for the Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law, the American Diabetes Association and Lawyers for Children.

She is the only candidate in the race voluntarily limiting the amount of contributions and refusing special interest money.

She is endorsed by 32 Judges including Judge David Flanagan, Judge John Markson, Judge Sarah O’Brien, Judge William Foust, Judge Brian Blanchard, Judge Amy Smith, Judge Steven Ebert, Judge Stephen Ehlke, Judge William Hanrahan, Judge John Albert, Judge Frank Remington, Judge Patrick Fiedler, Judge Michael Nowakowsk, and Judge Robert Dechambeau.

She is also endorsed by Peg Lautenschlager, Sheriff Dave Mahoney and progressive leaders like Laurene Bach and John Scepanski.

Here is what Judge Foust says about Judge Rebecca St. John:

Judge Rebecca St. John is the best candidate in this race.  She is the only candidate with judicial experience and her work on the Dane County bench is outstanding. She is deeply committed to an independent, impartial and non-partisan judiciary.  Her intellect, integrity, work ethic and temperament have impressed me greatly. Judge St. John is an important addition to the Dane County Court.”
