According to the Associated Press, the Republicans' latest move to consolidate power in Wisconsin is to circulate a bill which would allow attorneys to void a judge's ruling blocking a state law by filing a quick appeal (within 10 days).
This proposed law, if it had been in effect in 2011, would have nullified the Dane County circuit court judge's ruling on Act 10 and the ruling voiding the law requiring voters to show photo id to vote.
Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca said that the Republicans are trying to change the balance of power between the legislature and the courts. I believe that this move goes beyond that.
Please contact your state legislator and urge her/him you vote AGAINST this bill if it does come to the floor!
