Republicans Supposedly to Revise Controversial Mining Bill?

According to the 2/1/2013 Wisconsin State Journal, Republican legislators intend to meet with Democrats to discuss modifying AB1/SB1 aka the GeTac Mining bill. Either the Republicans were listening during the twelve hours of hearings held in Madison 1/23/2013 or someone later pointed out to them that their bills' timetables were dramatically out of touch with reality. For example, the Corps of Engineers representative (who had not been formally invited to speak!) indicated that their permitting process normally would take a minimum of two years with some taking four years or longer. Obviously, this kind of difference in schedules would cost the mining company significantly more than a permitting process that followed roughly the same time schedule.

Unfortunately, cynical little me suspects a snake slithering through the cloakrooms of the Capitol...
